So as you know from the last two posts, I've been traveling around from one 10 day period going to Dessau, Weimar, Dresden and Prague and one 10 period in Italy and Switzerland.
Weimar Through Prague was awesome seeing traditional European cities and how different German Cities are different from the city of Berlin too. A lot of the famous German cities, with the exception to Weimar, were bombed from the war so there is sometimes an interesting mix between still standing ancient structures, to rebuilt ancient structures to completely new and contemporary buildings! It's nice in Eastern European cities too because to visit the city you won't go broke buying beer and food.
Rome and Italy in general is the flip side to that. Where the German cities are touristy in spots, there isn't a massive overflow of tourists from everywhere. Don't get me wrong, the architecture of Rome was amazing and it is an epic experience to be able to walk right upto and inside of these famous structures you always saw in movies and learned about in class. Especially with the Colosseum and the Pantheon! Alongside the famous Roman architecture, my friend and I also checked out a ton of really modern architecture in both Rome and Milan! These buildings are little gems tucked out of the way of the center of rome where you have to figure out Rome's horrible transportation system to get to by bus. (You'll see a few below) Milan was alot more of the modern than historic. The Duomo was awesome, an ancient Gothic Church, but the modern stuff there was just as cool.
I am now back in Berlin till I leave on December 11th, with maybe one more trip I'm trying to figure out to goto London. It is a little hard to get back to cracking down and working in studio again but I'll come around haha. We have a few more Berlin excursions left where we'll be seeing very modern buildings and I'll be sure to post them as I see them.
